A clinic we worked with bought a $9,500 "professional triple-wavelength diode laser" from an online wholesaler two months earlier, marketed as a professional laser hair removal machine. The clinic was treating mostly Fitzpatrick V patients, and within weeks three of them developed post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that took six months to resolve. Two never came back. The device was a single-wavelength 808nm diode. The wholesaler had printed '755/808/1064 nm' on the brochure because that's what buyers search for. There was no 1064nm Nd:YAG inside the chassis. The cooling tip ran one fixed temperature.
