Audit Production, Assembly and Quality-Control Evidence

This stage tests whether the claimed manufacturer controls incoming inspection, assembly, calibration and final release rather than relying on presentation materials alone.
Review incoming component inspection
Inquire about the supplier's methodology for laser source, diode bars, flash lamps, power supplies, pumps, cooling modules, PCBs, touchscreens and optical lenses. Ask for the inspection checklist, supplier qualification records, acceptance criteria, component traceability and a copy of an inspection report.
Ask for the production traveler or build record
A build record should identify the machine, model, production batch, serial number, critical component batches, assembler, inspection stages, software version, test results and shipping date. Without this traceability, neither the buyer nor the supplier can reliably investigate defects or confirm the delivered configuration during a warranty claim.
Verify calibration and test equipment
Ask to see the laser power meter, electrical safety tester, leakage-current tester, grounding tester, and temperature measurement equipment — with calibration labels, current calibration certificates, and calibration due dates. An output claim is hard to trust when the factory cannot show how it measures delivered output.
Review burn-in tests and the final QC report

Validate Every Certificate Instead of Trusting the PDF
Certificates may be genuine but irrelevant. A real certificate can still belong to another company, factory, model, product category, or expired quality system.
Match the certificate holder to the legal manufacturer
Make sure to verify the legal name of the company, registered address, manufacturing address, certificate number, issue and expiration date, scope of the product, list of models, the issuing body, and the accreditation status of the issuing certification body. If the certificate holder is not the same company that is quoting, request a written explanation.
Verify ISO 13485 and CE documentation by device and market
ISO 13485 does not ensure the approval of each device in each market, but rather is linked to medical-device quality-management systems. Check certificate holder, certificate address, scope of the certificate, accreditation of the issuing body, and status of the certificate. For CE: Request the declaration of conformity, notified body certificate (if applicable), summary of technical documentation, device classification, model list, details of authorized representative, and labelling intended use. Having only a generic CE logo or an EMC test report doesn't mean a device is legally marketed in the EU.
Verify U.S. FDA claims and laser classification precisely
Don't overuse the term FDA approved. Differentiate between establishment registration, device listing, 510(k) clearance, premarket approval and radiation-emitting product requirements. Please request the legal manufacturer name, exact model, product code, registration or listing information (if available), 510(k) number (if applicable), and intended use. Request the stated classification — FDA classes I to IV, or IEC classes 1 through 4 including 1M, 2M, 3R, 3B. Ask for the classification report, accessible emission data, warning labels, safety interlocks, and the identity of the testing laboratory.
Confirm the Certificate Covers the Machine You Will Receive
Model substitution can occur between the certificate, quotation and shipment even when the certificate itself is valid.
